Serenity Book is a white-label booking platform used by independent service businesses. Each business ("tenant") that enables SMS reminders collects customer consent at the time of booking. The following describes exactly how that consent is obtained and what disclosures are shown.
Where opt-in appears
SMS consent is collected on the booking details step of the customer-facing booking flow — the same step where the customer enters their name, email, and phone number. The opt-in checkbox only becomes visible after the customer enters a phone number.
Exact opt-in language shown to customers
The following is a live render of the opt-in form element and disclosures exactly as customers see them:
Booking form — Your Details step
By checking the text reminder box above, you consent to receive automated appointment reminder texts from [Business Name]. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Text HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
The disclosure block above appears directly below the "Review Booking" button, on the same screen as the opt-in checkbox, and is shown only when the customer has entered a phone number.
Consent mechanism details
- Type: Explicit opt-in — checkbox is unchecked by default; customer must actively check it.
- Trigger: The checkbox and disclosures appear only after a phone number is entered in the Phone field.
- Stored on: The
Bookingrecord at time of confirmation (sms_opt_in = True/False). Consent is scoped to each individual booking — customers re-consent each time they book. - Stop handling: Inbound STOP messages are logged via Vonage webhook. Customers may reply STOP to any reminder text at any time.
Message content
When an appointment reminder is sent, the message follows this format:
- Morning appointments (before noon): reminder sent at 6:00 PM the evening before.
- Afternoon / evening appointments: reminder sent at 8:00 AM the morning of the appointment.
- No more than one SMS per booking is sent.
Platform operator
SMS messages are sent on behalf of individual tenant businesses using the Serenity Book platform, operated by
